Thursday 7 June 3:30 - 5pm in the Buttery. If you are involved in research on 'climate' then we'd like you to contribute to this event. We're looking for researchers in the humanities, social, biological and physical sciences. The climate@wolfson event will start with tea & cakes and will include very short talks (one slide per person), and round table discussion. It will provide the opportunity to meet others at Wolfson interested in Climate and to discuss possible future activities. Prof Christina Redfield & Prof Ros Rickaby

OUT OF THE BLUE @ NEW THEATRE, 11 - 12 June

Out of the Blue is Oxford’s all-male a cappella group. Their end-of-term concerts showcase the raw, unbridled talent of these fifteen motley boys (and their outrageously unprofessional choreography) as they sing everything from Stevie Wonder to Jessie J, using no instruments at all! For the second year in a row, the group line-up includes a Wolfson student, so come along and support a fellow college member while being thoroughly entertained by the premier student a cappella group in the country! DATES: 11 June & 12 June @ 7:30pm. TIX: Student tickets are normally £10, but Entz is subsidizing them and has 30 seats available for £5 each (for the 11 June show)! Sign up: http://bit.ly/LahBKD Patrick Lee

COLLEGE FEE BURSARIES

The College makes available up to 15 College fee bursaries per academic year. Each fee bursary is equal to one term of the College fee. College fee bursaries are principally awarded on the basis of hardship. In deciding between candidates with equal needs, the College will have regard to academic merit. Self-funded Wolfson students who are currently on-course and reading for a doctoral or MPhil degree can apply. Closing date: 9am Monday 11 June. Please visit http://www.wolfson.ox.ac.uk/internal/financial for more information and an application form. Academic and Administrative Assistant

GRIMSTONE FOUNDATION TRAVEL AWARD

The Grimstone Foundation generously offers Travelling Fellowships to current MPhil or DPhil students whose research is related to Asian Studies. If suitable candidates present themselves, one or two awards of up to £2,500 each will be made. The awards are to support either a cultural travel project or field work within Asia that is related to the student’s research. Travel must be undertaken during the academic year 2012/13 (by 30th September 2013) and before submission of the student’s dissertation/thesis. This will usually be in the applicant’s second year of study so that it will contribute to their research. At the completion of the project, Fellowship-holders will be required to provide a report to the College of about 1500 words illustrating how the award has contributed to their research. Closing date: 9am Monday 11 June. Please visit http://www.wolfson.ox.ac.uk/internal/financial for more information and an application form. Academic and Administrative Assistant

GENTLE REMINDER: EXAMINATION BEHAVIOUR

While examinations can be both stressful and a cause for celebration, please be mindful of the rules and regulations concerning examination conduct as laid out in the (blue) Proctors’ and Assessors' Memorandum. Students sitting papers in the Examination Schools or at Ewert House are strongly encouraged to carefully listen to and follow all instructions given to them. Furthermore, examination candidates and their friends are also discouraged from any unpleasant, unruly or aggressive behaviour after the examination. Serious violations will be subject to disciplinary action. Academic Administrator

MAIL FORWARDING FOR STUDENTS WHOSE MEMBERSHIPS ARE DUE TO LAPSE AS OF 30 JUNE

Students finishing their courses between 1 April and 30 June 2012 will have their pigeon holes removed and will be removed from College email distribution lists at the start of July unless you wish to join the Common Room upon completion of your studies. Any post received will be forwarded to the permanent address in the College’s database. The Academic Office will be emailing students affected by this change individually to ensure we have the correct forwarding address. NB: Alumni with Common Room membership may be entitled to a pigeon hole if they wish to have one. Academic Administrator

STUDENT STATUS LETTERS

Once you have completed your annual registration, an Enrolment Certificate will be available to print confirming your enrolled status at the University of Oxford for the current academic year. If you need to have the form certified, either pidge or email it to the Academic Office at general.office@wolfson.ox.ac.uk. Academic Administrator

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO GRADUATES ON TAUGHT COURSES: DEADLINES ARE DEADLINES!

We cannot stress enough the importance of meeting any and all deadlines for the submission of written work on time. In an address to Congregation in March, the University’s Proctors noted the recent sharp increase in the number of unauthorised late submissions from taught masters students. Candidates should be aware that, unless there are medical or other serious reasons for the late submission, the examiners are given permission to impose academic penalties in addition to the administrative fee that is almost invariably levied. Students finding themselves in such a position should contact the College’s Academic Office immediately and without delay – ideally before the published deadline so that evidence in mitigation may be submitted to the Proctors. For more information, consult the Examination Regulations (big grey book or online at http://www.ox.ac.uk/students/exams/) or Section 2: Academic Life at Wolfson in the College Student Handbook (http://www.wolfson.ox.ac.uk/internal/students).
